Thread Faction SS2016 Blog Tour

I was so lucky as to be asked to try out a few patterns from Thread Faction and be part of the blog tour, Thread Faction SS 2016.

There are a total of seven patterns and they make up the cutest summer wardrobe. They have a clean, simple and modern look, perfect for Scandinavian Girls. I chose (my girls chose) pattern 105, 108 and 110, which is a cropped Girls shirt, a dress and a romper. I modified the romper. The shirt and dress are sewn as the patterns, I just lengthened them because my Girls are taller than the patterns state.

WE ARE IN LOVE!

This is a simple, dolman style dress With a half circle skirt. It's such a quick sew and can easily be made into both a shirt and a skirt. What I like about these patterns, is the amount (or lack of) of paper I had to print. The romper printed on six papers!

The dress can easily be paired With the shirt - which took me just over a Commercial break to sew - after cutting, of course. This one will be a summer staple this year.

I don't have a lot of Pictures of the romper - she was just not feeling well, and somhow she got a hole on the back of her thigh putting it on. The romper is initially a shorts romper. It is rather short and after all we live in Norway - so I lengthened the legs and put the band so she can wear it as a Capri. She loves it soooo much and is really sad about the holw - I will have to make more of this too.

Happy Girls, in beautiful clothes!

Liz from Thread Faction has a wonderful give-away on her blog, here! The sponsors are shown in the photo underneath.

Cyan Lilly Dress and Tunic pattern test

We love this dress by Mandy K Designs . The dress was so easy to put together. I learned a new sewing method. Fit was spot on. The directions were so clear and it went really fast to make - which always makes me happy. The twirl factor is also important here! Honestly,we just love this!

The beatiful Tip Top dress by Petit a petit

I was lucky enough to be able to test the new pattern by
Petit a petit and family: the Tip top dress. As always her pattern is pure perfection!

The fit is beautiful and the dress is so romantic, yet modern. It's on sale for the next two weeks. If you have a girl you sew for, this is a good dress to have.

Hey June - Edelweiss dress

WARNING: picture overload!

I was so lucky as to be one of the pattern testers for the Edelweiss dress from Hey June. Adrianna, the pattern maker, is also the co-writer over at Crafterhours! And man is she talented (they both are ...)

We love this Pattern - with a capital P!
One of my favorite things with sewing, is combining fabrics. And this pattern is perfect for it. There are so many options for combining fabric.
Princess - in the brown dress - doesn't like ruffles and bows. She likes clean lines and fabrics without too many colors. She chose this brown fabric (a thrifted duvet cover) and chose not to have the ruffles over the shoulders.

Angel, the one in the pink w red dots dress, likes girly clothes. The fun thing with these dresses was that they chose their own fabrics. I told them to choose two fabrics from my stash. I love their combinations.

Angel also chose the blue flowery fabrics, but my girls are on the smaller side of size 8 and it turned out too big for her. We gave it to one of their class mates.
For my girls, I used size 6 for the width and fit and size 8 for length.

Thank you Adrianna (name sister to my Ariana in the pink dress) for letting me try out your pattern.
This dress WILL be made as presents this summer, I'm picturing three cousins wearing the same dress ...

Two patterns in the making! (And also two birthday presents)

The new dress is ready to be written into a pattern, I think it will be ready by the end of the week, I hope.

I really like how this turned out in the end - it still has some of the features from the Project Runway dress, but a longer bodice.
It will still have the three different options in the back.

My twins are going to a birthday party tomorrow. This dress will be for the birthday girl along with the skirt below.

I really like how this skirt turned out, I still have to try out a few different options, but the general idea is in this skirt. A circle skirt with a square bottom and elastic at the bottom! I am picturing dome different options with this as well!
If you'll just be a little patient with me, I'll have the patterns ready for you soon!

Have you seen Skirt Week over at CrafterHours? Fun!!!

Just so you know I'm keeping my word - a pattern for the other twin.

she likes her dresses to have a longer bodice!
Pattern for the Lunde dress will be coming this week!

I promise!

Guest blogging with a free pattern release

Today you'll find me visiting with the two wonderful sister-in-laws Elizabeth and liZ at Project run and Play

So excited to be there, I found some inspiration at the "real" Project Runway
from the 2nd season,

and made this:

My version has three different options for the back.
And the best thing ...

It comes with a free pattern, size 8 (but should be easy to adjust!
And if you happen to make it, I would love some pictures of it!

Kids clothes Week - Day 7

I did this skirt Sunday, I promise... A favorite dress that's too small, made into a skirt! I just cut off the top and attached an elastic, pulling on it as I sewed.
And this picture just makes me so happy! Spring is finally here - this is my favorite spring flower - I picked this for my grandmother EVERY spring - several times every year. Today my daughter came with these for me! Happy mother.
I made another carousel top - into a dress. I liked this fabric better than the pink one - sturdier, not so wobbly and all over the place.
I put the "carousel" in the front - the conversations in our house go like this: How is Ariana wearing it? In the back? Okay, Then I want it in the front...
My twins just do NOT want to wear the same clothes - and I've always urged them to dress differently, so I'm happy with this. Ariana (pink dress) is more girly girl - and Arielle is more "clean" and rocked!
I made the bottom edged curved.
This pattern is a fantastic pattern. I cut the fabric Sunday (still counts as KCW, right?) and sewed it up today - in less than half an hour. I had already sewed it once - but it's so nice, goes together so quickly and I can alter it any way I want!! The fit is also very nice. My girls are 8 and I cut it in size 8!

I buy all my fabrics in Norway, so I don't think it's of much interest for most of my readers ...

Tomorrow is Labor Day in Norway -  a day off of work - can I hear a HURRAH!!!

Kids Clothes Week - day 6-7

I've made another dress - so... I didn't get to make as I wanted this KCW, but I've made three dresses and I have another version of the Carousel top.

I really enjoyed the pattern - it's an easy sew, it comes together really nice and it is easy to make alternations!

I've been wanting to make a dress with a bow that can be tied in the front and the back, and decided this pattern would be a nice starting point.

I just made the pattern longer and cut out two triangles in a contrasting fabric - voila!!! A versatile dress!!!
This is my skinny girl, so having a bow, makes her dresses a better fit.
It's intended as a summer dress, but since we still have snow in our garden (I know... almost May!!!) she had some leggings and a long sleeve shirt underneath to make it warmer!

I'll try to make up another dress for this one's twin tonight - she doesn't want the bows - but maybe she'll like the bottom at an angle - we'll see!

Have a happy week!
