Kids clothes Week - Day 7

I did this skirt Sunday, I promise... A favorite dress that's too small, made into a skirt! I just cut off the top and attached an elastic, pulling on it as I sewed.
And this picture just makes me so happy! Spring is finally here - this is my favorite spring flower - I picked this for my grandmother EVERY spring - several times every year. Today my daughter came with these for me! Happy mother.
I made another carousel top - into a dress. I liked this fabric better than the pink one - sturdier, not so wobbly and all over the place.
I put the "carousel" in the front - the conversations in our house go like this: How is Ariana wearing it? In the back? Okay, Then I want it in the front...
My twins just do NOT want to wear the same clothes - and I've always urged them to dress differently, so I'm happy with this. Ariana (pink dress) is more girly girl - and Arielle is more "clean" and rocked!
I made the bottom edged curved.
This pattern is a fantastic pattern. I cut the fabric Sunday (still counts as KCW, right?) and sewed it up today - in less than half an hour. I had already sewed it once - but it's so nice, goes together so quickly and I can alter it any way I want!! The fit is also very nice. My girls are 8 and I cut it in size 8!

I buy all my fabrics in Norway, so I don't think it's of much interest for most of my readers ...

Tomorrow is Labor Day in Norway -  a day off of work - can I hear a HURRAH!!!

Kids Clothes Week - day 6-7

I've made another dress - so... I didn't get to make as I wanted this KCW, but I've made three dresses and I have another version of the Carousel top.

I really enjoyed the pattern - it's an easy sew, it comes together really nice and it is easy to make alternations!

I've been wanting to make a dress with a bow that can be tied in the front and the back, and decided this pattern would be a nice starting point.

I just made the pattern longer and cut out two triangles in a contrasting fabric - voila!!! A versatile dress!!!
This is my skinny girl, so having a bow, makes her dresses a better fit.
It's intended as a summer dress, but since we still have snow in our garden (I know... almost May!!!) she had some leggings and a long sleeve shirt underneath to make it warmer!

I'll try to make up another dress for this one's twin tonight - she doesn't want the bows - but maybe she'll like the bottom at an angle - we'll see!

Have a happy week!

Kids Clothes Week - Day 4

I finished the other Malibu Romper from Lil Blue Boo. Arielle picked her own fabric after seeing her sister's dress. She is in looove! This is so her style ... Don't quite know what I'll say to her grown up style ...
The red spots on her back ... bug bites. Her teacher even called me yesterday, telling me I needed to buy a cream. Talk about feeling like a neglecting mother!!! She has 48 bites! They itch.
My little 8-year old, trying to pose and look old ... using words like pathetic and metaphor - and knowing what they mean!
Just don't grow up too quick!

Kids Clothes Week - Day 3

Soooo ... this is how far I got yesterday on the second Lil blue Boo romper made dress. I cut the fabrics, sewed up the back, got started on the lining in front. And then there was no more thread on the bobbin, it was late and I messed up the winding of the bobbin, so I decided it was time to go to bed!

I will finish this today and I then I will start on my other patterns I have planned - they keep adding up, don't quite know which one I'll tackle today! But then that's the fun of it all, just jump on the pattern I feel like!
Happy sewing, ladies!

Kids Clothes Week - day 2

Today I've made the Lil blue boo Malibu Romper into a dress - and let me tell you
THIS WILL BE MY NEW GO TO PATTERN! Five seams including the hem - way easy! It took me less than an hour to cut the fabric and sew it up!

I love how the back looks!
When the other twin saw it, she immediately went to the fabrics and found some fabrics for a dress for her - she originally wanted a romper pants, but changed her mind when she saw this!

That's what I call success!!!

Kid's Clothes Day 1

i had planned on making Lil Blue Boo's romper today, but I didn't have any paper to print the paper on ... (I forwarded it to my job, shh, I'll print it there tomorrow - we are allowed to ... just saying)

I like to recycle ... when I have clothes that I don't want/fit anymore, and I like the fabric, I put it in my remodel pile ... this skirt used to be my tunic. The fit was never right for me ... used once or twice. But Princess A loved the fabrics used. She tried to pick it for another project, but we weren't able to use it for that.

So ... today I had one very happy girl - telling me, "mommy I can't use this skirt with long sleeves, you know..." "Oh, why not" "Mommy, you just don't know what's stylish ..."

Happy she's happy!

Kids Sewing Week

I have some plans this week!!!
For last fall, I drafted all my patterns myself for the Kids sewing week. This time I've got patterns I want to sew!!!

Here are the patterns I want to make:

The Sunshine dress, by ShwinDesigns

Lil blue boo romper, made into pants and a dress
Another pair of the Bubble Pocket Shorts from Elegance and elephants - without the pockets!

The Submarine Pullover, by ShwinDesigns

These are my plans - and then we'll see what I actually get done!!!

kcwc - day 6 and 7, of course someone has to throw BIG fit!

On the very last day of this week, my dear daughter has thrown a big tantrum, lasting more than two (2) hours!!!!!!! I was really in my sewing mood, starting the above dress, and that's how far i got... but before the week is up, you WILL be able to see the finished product, you see, this is my signature outfit for Project Run and Play.... I WILL FINISH IT......
I finished the apron - my tantrum girls drew on it for her cousin, it reads: my apron, I like to cook! It's her birthday at the end of the month.
so here is everything i accomplished this week, not bad, when you look at it like this, but i still didn't get everything i wanted done...
Romper - no
black dress - no
Christmas dress - in the making, but with a different inspiration
coat - in the making, but more like a cape
hooded dress - started, but need to rip some seams
shirt - no
pj's - yes
skirt - yes
bow tunics - yes
tunic - no
From this list, I still need to make an everyday dress, bought a pattern..
Christmas dress, started
coat - started
fleece jacket - oh well

I'm happy with everything I accomplished - but something else has to pay when i sew this much in one week - now I HAVE to correct some Norwegian tests!!!

kcwc 5

For day five i made two tunics, I cut four, but I'm still struggling with two of them...

they look really lumpy and out of shape in these pictures, I guess you just have to trust me - they look really nice on them and they go so well with the leggings!
They are also made from comfy fabric - nice during the cold season!

For day six and seven I working on something special... I might not be finished tomorrow - I hope I am!

kcwc 4 - PJ's

I made PJ's for the girls - winter is coming and they need long sleeves and pants even when they sleep. Our house is from 1885 - cold!

PJ's in knit fabric is just so comfortable!
One for each of the girls - wrapped as presents - they were so happy!
So far I've done:
4 skirts
4 leggings
2 shirts
2 pj's

My little darlings are getting so many new and very much needed clothes!
Loving kcwc!

10/10/2012

kcwc 3 - shirts

Another day of the kcwc - I'm loving it - getting so many clothes the girls really need ready!

They also needed a couple of shirts. The green one is made with the sleeves connected to the body - very easy!
And it goes so well with the skirt from the first day!
I just love this knit fabric - i put some elastic in the sides - makes something extra!
What have you made today?

10/09/2012

kcwc 2 - leggings

Four pairs of leggings, or more correctly three pairs of leggings and one pair of jeggings.... The above pair of jeggings is from a pair of my jeggings. I didn't like the color anymore for me. Today the girls father complimented the pair!
I then made three pair of leggings from velveteen - it's nice and warm to have underneath the winter suit this coming winter. It doesn't get too lumpy and it's soft! I love them all - one pair of gray.
 A brown pair..
and a dusty pink pair...

Loving this week - and especially loving the fact that my girls are getting lots of clothes they need, without me spending ANY money at all - I've only used what i already had... yeah! bliss!!

10/08/2012

kcwc 1 - skirts

For the first day of kcwc (see link below) i made four skirts - one corduroy with pink bow, two jersey skirts and one refashioning from an old skirt of mine.
For the skirt above, i found my inspiration here:

but I know my daughter doesn't like the bow as big as this, so i made it smaller.

The jersey skirts were really simple, sew the two sides, end pull an elastic while sewing for the waist... done deal!
For this skirt, i just adjusted the waist, now it functions as a maxi skirt for my daughter.

We both love this skirt, and it has been worn a couple of times already (yes, I started last week... shoot me)
Not liking her pose as much.... but she loves the outfit!

Will be back tomorrow for more kids clothes!
