DAY 31!!!!!

I promised you another drift wood project, sorry, hasn't happened today!

The 31 days of unfinished projects 2011 are history. I've had such a good time focusing on unfinished projects. I've gotten quite a bit done, my kitchen remodel is moving along, I've sewn a lot, knitted, crochet, decorated house.

first tutorial tomorrow

I'm also happy I don't have to finish projects every day of the year, it is a bit tiring. There 's a reason things always get finished - priorities, time, need of rest, new exciting ideas.

I have learned a lot about how I procrastinate, though! And I have a better chance to change some of my bad habits now than I did before the 31 days started.

So here is to new beginnings and finishing up projects!

Tomorrow is the new series where my friends and I will give you a brand new tutorial EVERY SINGLE DAY of November.

Here is my button for the 30 days:

Day 30 head board, finally and picture shelves

After over a year of planning to make my head board, I finally did it... I live in a very old house, from 1885 and the walls are cold. The head board is super easy, but oh so practical. Just two pallets placed vertically - and a bunting. Now during winter I can place quilts and duvets in between the pallets, and my head will be nice and warm!

I only have to get the pallets into the same color, but I read somewhere that a pot scrub and apple vinegar will do the trick.

I live near the ocean, and I collect drift wood. It's so lovely. I've had these boards for like forever - more than a year, at least.... and i didn't really know what to do with them. They were too different size-wise to make a table with them. Then I thought of these picture frames - I put them up today - and I have to say, I'm in love!!!
My living room wall looks so nice - this is above the coach.
And tomorrow I have another drift wood project to show you - it's not finished yet.

Happy Sunday, and don't forget - starting Tuesday - 30 days of tutorials and some really neat visitors!

Day 29 - making over and getting ready

Some of you might notice that I've spent some time today making over my blog - no major things, a new header and cleaning up a bit. My blog is a project that will never get finished - it's an ever-changing project, but I love those types of projects too - it's like the garden, pulling a weed here, removing a dead flower there, always work to do, moving some flowers around, changing with the season, making it beautiful.

Found this on Pinterest - LOOOOVE it
I spent some of the day at a play center with the girls - they had a really good time, but wanted to get back home to their friend - and then she wasn't at home. Go figure.

We have the class teddy visiting this weekend, and now I will go and make him a trailer bag and a superman suit at the request of my daughter.

And I'm up to speed

And I am now up to speed regarding the 31 days of change - I now have 28 posts during the month of October about unfinished projects.

I just finished another project - a perfect Christmas gift - this one made in colors to be the perfect gift for my brother - and if my sister-in-law reads this, please don't show him!
Please don't mind the ugly wall in the back - the kitchen is being remodeled

And - tutorial coming in November....

Day 27 - Head ache

I wasn't going to blog today, but then - I did promise to blog every day, and I'm already short two days... I've had a bad head ache today and instead of blogging I should prepare a writing seminar I'm teaching tomorrow - but with the head ache - I'm just not feeling it.
I prepared two more tutorials today - both of which will be Christmas presents for a lot of the adults on my list. I'll give you a sneak peak today. As for the unfinished projects.... a month is a long time to focus on unfinished projects, and I have discovered that I jump at fun projects so much easier than the big and boring ones. I still have some projects I really need to get done. Well, there is always a tomorrow.

This will be a perfect gift for men
I am still looking for guest bloggers during the month of November - if you have a tutorial, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Day 26 - another tutorial finished

Some more projects finished - the 31 days coming to an end, but they also sparked the idea about doing 30 days of tutorials.... This dress will be presented during the month of November - it's a t-shirt type dress with some feminine touch to the sleeves. It is now 10 pm, and my little model is sleeping. I will get pictures of her wearing it, though. Quite happy with how it turned out - I made it in velveteen instead of in jersey knit - it's a little thicker for winter.

I hope to see you in November. My button for the month of November is on my side bar-  feel free to grab it.

Another project finished, making up for day 19

I finished the cowl, and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it - now I have ONE Christmas present done!
Two times around
I will post the pattern during my 30 days of tutorials, starting Tuesday. I hope a lot of you are attending. I do (if I may so say myself) have a lot of nice tutorials coming up. I have something for the knitters, the crocheters, the seamstresses, the wood workers - I think I might have something for YOU.
The actual length
Luvinthemommyhood has a knit-along going on, and this cowl was done because I wanted to participate there.
The pattern
I hope you'll have a nice rest of this Tuesday - and if you want to do a tutorial for the month of November, hollar at me - shoot me an email of write a comment to this post.

Day 25 - finally on Facebook

Today's project was to get the blog on facebook.

And you can LIKE here.

My own design for an advent calendar

Other than taht, I'm working hard to get the 30 tutorials done for you guys. I'm loving being able to be creative, making different things, instead of making one thing many times....
Leaving you with a picture of a tutorial I will give you guys.

Day 24 - coming to an end

I have to be honest here - I am happy my 31 days of unfinished projects are coming to an end. Don't get me wrong, it has been really nice, but I do enjoy me some new projects.
Old Navy dress- which I will make a knock-off version of during 30 days of tutorials

Today as unfinished projects I have made some very important phone calls that have been waiting.. feels good. When the focus is on the unfinished, a lot of things do get finished, which is good. My paper got done in time, delivered and returned again. She was quite happy with it.
Pinterest - in love!

Now I need to get more tutorials done for next month - starting Tuesday - seven days away!

Day 22 and 23

O.K. so I'm cheating a little - I'm doing two days into one post, shoot me.... I'm working hard on my paper... the five pages due tomorrow. I'm on page four now, so when the girls go to sleep tonight, I'll be able to finish it - one BIG unfinished project all done. And because sitting by the computer, writing a paper, can get very tiring, I started to knitt yesterday. Luv in the mommyhood has a knit-along going on - a cowl knit-along. I decided to join. I've made my own pattern and will be sharing it with you guys in November.
I have also found that this is the perfect Christmas gift for so many people on my Christmas gift list. It's quick, and we do live in Norway. Nice warm clothes, accessories are always welcome.

The knitting do pull me away from my paper, though, it's so much more fun to knit than to write about how asults learn.

I tought Sunday school today - and I loved today's topic - we're all limbs on Christ's body. We made cards for every child, telling them why they were special. My group is the one that hasn't started school yet, and they were so proud of their cards.

I hope you have something you're proud of today, happy Sunday.

I am a procrastinator

I am still a procrastinator... when there is something I really don't want to do, I postpone it.
And how I wish I had a dog that could do my project this weekend. I am studying adult learning this year, besides working full time, and Monday I have a paper due. 5 pages long...

And I will be doing a lot of typing, reading, typing again. And today, how I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator... it's going to be a long weekend...

I would much rather do this:
Happy weekend - I'll be finishing a project.... whether I want to or not...

Finishing projects....

Grosgrain has a challenge out - to show what you HAVE made or ARE GOING to make for Christmas presents. I plan to make these things for my friends - a ribbon necklace, a cell phone holder and a basket. I need my Christmas gift making to be quick projects.

http://pinterest.com/pin/294134249/
I think I will try to make the cell phone holder for most of the grown ups I'm giving gifts - it's so smart. I will put out a tutorial for my version of it for the 30 days of tutorials.

http://pinterest.com/pin/231934481/
The girls and I also make gifts for people together, we've made gifts like painting porcelen - when they were almost two, making Christmas tree ornaments two years ago, painting bird feeders and last year I bought fabric markers and white fabric and they drew a table cloth for my mom. I wrote about this here.

This year the girls and I will have an activity calendar, where we each day do something together, making cards, sending presents, baking, making gifts and so on - and you guys will be able to follow along!

This weekend I'm planning on finishing up my kitchen - A LOT!

Here is the button for the 30 days of tutorials - if you want to use it!

When finished unfinished project become unfinished

I got a package in the mail today - I registered at a book club an got a welcome gift - that's what the pictures are about today - lots of buttons, to creative books, a children's book and two mp4's.
abc about sewing and quilting

Back to my heading - I finished the crochet skirts - both crocheting and fastening the threads. A finished unfinished project. The girls wore them to school yesterday, sorry no picture, and when I came home from work, Angel came running towards me - so happy. Two of the meanest not nicest girls in their class loved their skirts and wanted one for themselves. Angel asked them that if they got skirt, would they promise to act nice to them - which they replied yes, they would. Angel exclaiming to me - school is going to be so good now!

inside the sewing book
And that's the story of how my finished unfinished project became unfinished again- now I have two more skirts to do... if I decide to do them, I don't think the girls deserve them - at least not yet, or what do you think?

Have a beautiful day!

Day 17 - Inventory

Yesterday I thought I would make inventory - I was just very tired.... but sometimes, when trying to finish all those unfinished projects, it's smart to stop, think and find out what you have accomplished and what you want to accomplish.
Pinterest

So far I have finished some planned creative projects, I have started preparing all the tutorials for the month of November, I have managed to start a BIG project - my weight (I actually went for a run today), my kitchen is slowly getting done.
Pinterest

What do I have left, that I wanted to have done?
I want to finish off more tutorials, I have MORE than 30 planned, so I think they will all get done.
My kitchen really needs to get done.
The knitted blanket would be nice to finish - the crochet skirt is done, just need to fasten the loose threads.
My weight loss NEEDS to get done this time!!!!
And finish tidying my house, throw away things and give to second hand stores.
Finish a paper for school, by the 24th.

Pinterest

Now I know where my focus needs to be these two weeks...
I have made priorities - and I can finish a task at a time - or jungle them all up.

And go vote for my label over at CrafterHours.
Have a beautiful day!

Day 16, 7, and my head is turning

It's day 16 of the unfinished projects and day 7 of KCWC - and by now I think my head is turning... No, not really, I love sewing for my girls, it makes me happy and gives me extra energy.

The girls had a performance with their choir this morning at church - and I thought this - with KCWC going on and all - was a super opportunity to make them some fall dresses.  They are just some basic peasant dresses, made a little different on the bottom of the skirt.
"Do you want me to show off the pocket?"

One got a ruffle at the bottom and the other got three pleats.

The grey dress looks really good with the vest as well.
"Maybe I could use the thermometer as a phone?"

Today I will do some resting and preparing my diet meals, that way it will be easier to just grab something to eat - other than that I think when my focus is so much on unfinished projects, it's good to have a day in between where I kind of make inventory - have I done the projects that are important, am I done with anything, what's left and so on. Today is rest and inventory day.

Have a blessed Sunday.
