The princess on the pea

As I've mentioned, I've been making something for the Once upon a Thread challenge - and now it's done - the girls got quite happy with them.

My inspiration was the Princess on the Pea written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. He has also written The ugly Duckling and The little Mermaid.

The skirt is made from strips of fabric, the girls chose their own colors, which this time were almost similar. I even put a little pea at the bottom of the skirts, in form of a big, green button. The skirts are made as balloon skirts.

The shirts are made from a t-shirt of their's. I cut out an angular piece in the middle of the shirt, sewed it back up and put velvet ribbon on top of the seams. I painted a crown in the front. The sleeves are made puffy and like a princess sleeve. I don't have a serger, so my seams aren't perfect on the shirt.

This is the princess, on all the mattresses - the skirt and the pea.

I had a lot of fun creating these outfits.

Happy sewing everyone. Bless you, Tone
